This year’s Blizzcon 2010 Opening Ceremony has been taking place this afternoon, and we’ve been following along with the news along with all of you. So, what excitement has been in store today? It went a little something like this…

Mike Morheim, CEO of Blizzard, introduced some new Starcraft 2 gametypes, including “Blizzard DotA” and “Left2Die.” These and two others will be available on Battle.net for the exciting price of free-ninety-nine. He also announced that players will be available for the first time, this December 7th, to download an expansion directly from Blizzard.com and install immediately when servers go live.

However, the big news we were all hoping for and expecting came from Blizzard’s Chris Metzen concerning Diablo 3. After a little wordplay and a (lengthy) detour through the history of Geekery, Metzen announced the last playable Diablo 3 class, by way of a trailer, as the Demon Hunter.
