Bastion Sells 500,000+ Copies, Takes Home 74 Awards

After their recent discount during both the Steam Holiday Sale and Xbox Live Holiday Sale, Super Giant Games announced that Bastion has “sailed past” 500,000 copies sold across the two platforms. Along with posting phenomenal sales figures for a downloadable game, Super Giant listed the awards and accolades that Bastion has gained since it being released.

Among the awards Bastion picked up 12 top 10 awards, 26 Game of the Year awards (including Indie GotY, Downloadable GotY, PC GotY, and XBLA GotY), and 17 Best Sound awards including Best Original Score, Voice acting, and Audio.     I’m glad to see Bastion do well, but I was surprised at only a 1/2 mil purchases. It’s such a good game, and I even bought the soundtrack.

      Well, if you compare it to AAA titles with huge PR budgets, it’s not a lot. But for an indie title it’s quite a lot, and if we compare the amount of PR money thrown at the games I’d say Bastion is more successful than for example Deus Ex or Dead Space 2.
