Video game soundtracks are pretty popular. Yet for years there has been a lack of official video game sheet music here in the Western world. Nintendo has finally changed this inequality with the release of four officially licensed English songbooks that will cover the Super Mario and Legend of Zelda series.
Each book will contain more than 30 songs from their respective series. Super Mario for Guitar, Super Mario for Piano, Super Mario for Easy Piano, and The Legend of Zelda for Piano will retail between $16.99 and $19.99. The books are available for purchase from Alfred Music Publishing.
Learning how to play songs from your favorite video games can be tough. With the lack of legitimate sheet music here in the US, the virtuosos among us are forced to either use fan-made tablature or spend big bucks on the official Japanese songbooks. Hopefully, Nintendo’s release is just the beginning of a greater trend across the industry. Can you say “Sonic The Hedgehog for Piano”?
