During last night’s EA quarterly earnings conference call, VP of Investor Relations Peter Ausnit said that we are “going to hear some announcements from us on Battlefield actually as early as next week in an event we’ve got in New York,” responding to a question regarding the profit margins of DLC for major franchises like FIFA and Battlefield.
We’ve got plans for all of our major franchises to turn them into more of as we’re seeing with FIFA and with Battlefield more as games for service that have constant flow of downloadable content. But it does vary with the pinnacle, as Eric pointed out, being FIFA.
Given the responses to other questions in the conference call, it seems like EA is taking a more DLC and piecemeal approach to distribution rather than the frequent sequel model. We’ll find out next week, hopefully.
