Rejoice, Aliens fans! SEGA has released a new gameplay trailer for Aliens: Colonial Marines. The intense, scream-filled trailer gives us a short look into quite a few gameplay aspects, as well as the game’s basic plot.
The trailer kicks off with the following message:
In 2179 a USCM Force was dispatched on board the USS Sulaco to the Hadley’s Hope colony on LV-246 to destroy a Xenomorph infestation. All contact with the Sulaco and its crew was lost. The USCM dispatched the USS Sephora with a battalion sized force and a full complement of surface bound nuclear warheads to secure the situation once and for all.
We are then treated to a mish-mash of alien blasting and marine shredding action. The trailer gives us glimpses of the many Xenomorphs that your squad is tasked with exterminating, including your standard alien and a super angry, buffed up queen alien.
Their tactics are also on display, with aliens using their climbing abilities, running and jumping after players, and sneak-attacks from inside the ceilings, walls, and floors. Players will have many options at their disposal for combating the Xenomorph infestation, including grenades, shotguns, flamethrowers, and even mechs.
Also highlighted are the many gameplay situations that your squad will encounter during their stay on LV-246. Whether it involves walking down terrifyingly pitch black corridors or hand to hand combat with hulking aliens, it seems like dull moments will be few and far between. Of particular note is a short scene where your squad is frantically attempting to seal the doors shut before the aliens reach your position.
Can you say “last stand”? Aliens: Colonial Marines is set for a Fall 2012 release date.
