The Old Republic Will Receive Video Tutorials and Weekly Blogs

Star Wars: The Old Republic continues to be the most casual-friendly MMO on the market (but that’s not necessarily a bad thing). BioWare doesn’t feel they’ve done enough for the casual player, as they’ve recently announced plans to release a series of video guides as well as weekly features based on the MMO.

The first video, aptly called, “Begin your Journey”, has already been released and is hosted by social media coordinator Eric Musco and explains the basics of character creation and how to interact with NPCs. The weekly features blog will essentially be a Q&A with the developers answering questions from the forums. As long as they don’t consistently pick the easy lay-up questions, this has the potential to be incredibly useful and will encourage MMO veterans to watch and chime in.

Hit the break to see the video for yourself.

It would be easy to jump up and down hurling insults at players that would actually need these videos but it does make sense from BioWare’s perspective. The Old Republic is a game that is based around pre-existing interfaces, gameplay and conventions yet it is primarily designed for players who may not be acquainted with them yet. A series of helping-hand tutorials could be just the thing to help ease the mass of people into the equally massive and immersive world of warcraft SWTOR.
